Anji Bai Cha (pronounced Ahn-jee Bye Cha) is a special type of green tea that comes from China. Even though its name means "white tea," it's actually a green tea! It was first grown in a place called Anji County in Zhejiang Province, China. You can also find it growing in Changxing County, which is also in Zhejiang Province.
What Makes Anji Bai Cha Special?
This unique tea was first discovered in 1982. It's not grown as much as other teas, and its harvesting season is very short. This makes Anji Bai Cha quite rare and one of the most expensive teas in China.
Why Is It Called "White" Tea?
Even though Anji Bai Cha is a green tea, it gets its "white" name from its appearance. The leaves are long and narrow, and they have a yellowish color. They also have a special fold along their length, which makes them easy to recognize.
