What is Ankenytown's Story?

Ankenytown had its own post office for many years. This post office helped people send and receive mail. It first opened in 1848. The post office served the community for a long time before it closed in 1938.

The community was named after an important person named George Ankeny. He was one of the first people to settle in the area. George Ankeny also became a "state legislator." This means he was a person elected by the people to help create laws for the state of Ohio. For a period, Ankenytown was also known by another, less common name: Squeal.
