Ann Arnold, born Ann Telfer, was an English artist. She was known for her beautiful paintings. Ann was also a founding member of a special group of artists called the Brotherhood of Ruralists. She lived from 1936 to 2015.

Early Life and Education
Ann Arnold was born in Newcastle upon Tyne in England. She studied art at the Epsom School of Art from 1956 to 1959. Her father, Edmund Telfer, designed ships.
Career as an Artist
From 1959 to 1969, Ann Arnold worked as an art therapist. This means she used art to help people with their feelings and problems. She even started the Association of Art Therapists.
In 1961, she married another artist named Graham Arnold. Together, they became very important in the art world.
The Brotherhood of Ruralists
In 1976, Ann Arnold helped start a group called the Brotherhood of Ruralists. Her husband, Graham Arnold, was also part of this group. Other famous artists like Sir Peter Blake and David Inshaw were members too.
The Ruralists were artists who loved nature and traditional English countryside life. They often painted scenes inspired by myths, legends, and the beauty of rural areas.
Ann and Graham Arnold lived in Devizes, Wiltshire for many years. Later, they moved to the Redlake Valley in southern Shropshire.
Ann's Art Style
Ann Arnold mostly used oil paints on canvas for her larger works. She also created many beautiful pieces using watercolour. Her art often showed figures and scenes from everyday life or nature.
In 1981, she illustrated a book called Claire's Countryside. She also designed covers for special editions of William Shakespeare's plays.
Ann Arnold was recognized for her talent. She was an Academician of the South West Academy of Fine and Applied Art. This is a special title given to skilled artists.
Later Life
Ann Arnold passed away on December 28, 2015. She was buried at St Mary's Church in Chapel Lawn, Shropshire.
