Anna's Swedish Thins facts for kids
Anna's Swedish Thins are super thin and crispy cookies from Sweden. In Swedish, they are called Annas Pepparkakor. These tasty treats are made by a Swedish company called AB Annas Pepparkakor. Their bakery is located in Tyresö, a town near Stockholm.
In 2008, a company from Belgium called Lotus Bakeries bought Anna's. They wanted to share these famous cookies with people all over Europe. Anna's Swedish Thins are special because they have a Royal Warrant. This means the King of Sweden officially approves them!
The Story Behind Anna's
The company was started by two sisters, Anna and Emma Karlsson, way back in 1929. Later, in 1963, the Mattsson family took over the company. Anna's became even more special in 2002. They were named a "Purveyor to the Royal Court of Sweden". This means they are an official supplier to the Swedish Royal Family.
Where You Can Find Them
You can find Anna's ginger thins in stores all over Sweden. They are also sent to many other countries! You can buy them in places across Europe, the Middle East, and North America.
For a while, from 2002 to 2011, Anna's even had a bakery in High River, Canada. This bakery made the cookies for North America. Besides the classic ginger flavor, they also made orange and blueberry thins. Today, Lotus Bakeries North America imports these delicious cookies. You can find them in ginger, almond, orange, and even chocolate mint flavors!
Make a Wish with a Cookie!
Anna's Thins are sometimes called "Swedish wish cookies." There's a fun tradition you can try! Place one of these thin cookies on the palm of your hand. Then, gently tap it with your index finger. If the cookie breaks into three pieces, your wish is supposed to come true!
