The Anna Beir House is a special red brick house in Greenville, Ohio. It was built way back in 1865. This house is important because of Anna Beir, who was a beloved art teacher.

Anna Beir lived in this house for most of her life. She was born there in 1873. When she passed away in 1939, she gave the house to the city of Greenville. For many years, the Greenville Art Guild used the house. Later, a fire caused some damage in the 1970s. Today, a gallery at the Greenville Carnegie Library is named in her honor. On April 11, 1977, the Anna Beir House was added to the National Register of Historic Places. This means it's a very important historical building.

Who Built the House?

The house was built by Conrad Beir in 1865. Conrad was Anna's father. He was a busy man! At the same time, he was a pastor at the German Methodist Church in Greenville. He also worked as a tailor, making clothes.

What Does the House Look Like?

The Anna Beir House is a simple, rectangular building. It has two stories and is made of brick. The front of the house has a gabled roof and three sections, called bays. It sits on a strong stone foundation. The roof is made of metal, and there are some stone decorations. It looks like a typical home for middle-class families from that time.
