Anna Fox (born in 1961) is a talented British photographer. She is known for her unique and strong style, often using bright flash and bold colors in her pictures. In 2019, she received a special award called an Honorary Fellowship from the Royal Photographic Society.

Anna Fox's Photography Career

Anna Fox finished her photography degree in 1986 at the West Surrey College of Art and Design in Farnham, Surrey. She learned from famous photographers like Martin Parr and Paul Graham.

Early Work and Famous Projects

Anna Fox first became well-known for her 1988 project called Work Stations: Office Life in London. This project showed what office life was like in London during the mid-1980s.

She is also famous for her Zwarte Piet series, which she worked on from 1993 to 1998. This series explored traditional cultural events in the Netherlands.

Between 2001 and 2003, she created a series of four books called "Made in". These books focused on different places: Made in Milton Keynes, Made in Kansas, Made in Gothenburg, and Made in Florence.

From 2009, Anna Fox spent two years taking photos at Butlins in Bognor Regis. This work became her book Resort 1 - Butlin's Bognor Regis.

Current Role and Recognition

Today, Anna Fox is the head of photography at the University for the Creative Arts in Farnham.

A large book about her work, Photographs 1983-2007, was published in 2007. It was written by Val Williams.

In 2009, Anna Fox was considered for the 2010 Deutsche Börse Photography Prize. She was also a finalist for the 2012 Pilar Citoler Prize. In 2019, she was given an Honorary Fellowship by the Royal Photographic Society. This is a very special award.

The writer Sean O'Hagan reviewed her book Resort 1 - Butlin's Bognor Regis. He said that Anna Fox often looks at small, specific details to show bigger, universal ideas. He mentioned her series The Village (1991–1993), where rural England looked like a copy of itself, but the people in the photos seemed very real.

David Chandler, in his essay Vile Bodies, described Anna Fox as an important part of the "second wave" of British color documentary photography. He noted that she helped create a special style of photography using strong flash and bright colors.
