Anna Louise Beer (born 1924, died 2010) was a smart Norwegian woman. She worked as a lawyer and a judge. She was also a strong supporter of women's rights, helping to make things fair for women. She led an important group called the Norwegian National Women's Council from 1973 to 1979.

Anna Beer's Legal Journey

Anna studied law at the University of Oslo. She finished her studies in 1949. After that, she worked for the government in the Ministry of Justice. She also worked as an assistant judge. In 1957, she became a full lawyer.

Working at the Supreme Court

From 1964, Anna worked as a legal secretary at the Supreme Court. This meant she was a legal advisor to the highest court in Norway. In 1972, she became a judge at the probate court in Oslo. This court handles things like wills and inheritances. She became the president of this court in 1988. She held this important role until 1994. Anna also wrote several books about inheritance law.

Anna Beer's Work for Women and Society

Anna Louise Beer was very active in helping women. She was the president of the Norwegian Association of Female Lawyers from 1960 to 1962.

Leading the Norwegian National Women's Council

From 1973 to 1979, Anna was the president of the Norwegian National Women's Council. This group worked to improve the lives of women in Norway. She even represented this organization at a big meeting. This meeting was the World Conference on Women in Mexico City in 1975. She also helped the Norwegian Association for Women's Rights.

Involvement in Politics

Anna was also involved in local politics. She was a member of the Oslo City Council from 1977 to 1978. She represented the Liberal People's Party. She also served on other important committees. From 1979 to 1983, she was part of the Appeals Committee for Gender Equality. From 1980 to 1984, she was a member of the National Tax Commission.

Honors and Awards

For her important work, Anna Louise Beer received a special honor. She was made a knight first class of the Order of St. Olav. This is a high award in Norway.
