Annazette Collins was born on April 28, 1962, in Chicago, Illinois. She went to Chicago State University. There, she earned her first degree in sociology. Later, she also earned a master's degree in Criminal Justice from the same university.
Her Career Journey
Before becoming a state representative, Annazette Collins worked in social services. She also worked in agencies related to criminal justice. She was an Administrator for the Chicago Board of Education. She also worked for the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS). This department helps children and families.
Collins also worked for Cook County Social Services. She was part of the Probation Department. She even worked as a Correctional Officer with the Bureau of Prisons. These jobs gave her a lot of experience helping people and understanding the justice system.
Making Laws in Illinois
When Annazette Collins was a state representative, she focused on several important issues. She wanted to make education better for everyone. She also aimed to improve access to good health care.
