Early Life and Education
Anne Émond was born in 1982. She moved to Montreal in 2001. In 2005, she finished her studies in cinema at Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM). This is a big university in Quebec.
Her Film Career
Since finishing school, Anne Émond has written and directed many films. She started with seven short films. These are movies that are usually less than 40 minutes long. Some of her early short films include L'Ordre des choses (2009), Naissances (2009), and Sophie Lavoie (2009).
Her short film L'Ordre des choses won an award for Best Director in 2009. Another short film, Naissances, was chosen as one of the top ten Canadian short films of 2009 by the Toronto International Film Festival. Her film Sophie Lavoie also won an award for best short film.
First Feature Films
Anne Émond's first full-length movie was called Nuit #1. This film helped show her unique style. She likes to use long scenes and speeches in her movies. Her films often explore themes like feeling alone when you are young. For Nuit #1, she won the Claude Jutra Award in 2012. This award is for the best first feature film by a new director.
Her second full-length movie was Our Loved Ones (Les êtres chers). It was shown for the first time in 2015. The movie tells the story of the Leblanc family. Their lives change after a sad event in 1978. This film was also named one of the top ten Canadian feature films of 2015.
Later Works
