Anne Émond is a talented Canadian film director and screenwriter. She was born in 1982 and now lives and works in Montreal, Quebec. She is known for creating movies that tell interesting stories.

Early Life and Learning
Anne Émond was born in 1982. She moved to Montreal in 2001. In 2005, she finished her studies in cinema at the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM). This is where she learned how to make films.
Her Work as a Filmmaker
Since finishing school, Anne Émond has written and directed many films. She has made seven short films. Some of these include L'Ordre des choses (2009), Naissances (2009), Sophie Lavoie (2009), and Plus rien ne vouloir (2011).
Early Short Film Success
Her short film L'Ordre des choses won an award for Best Director in 2009. This was at the Rendez-vous du cinéma québécois. It was also nominated for the Claude Jutra Award. Another short film, Naissances, was named one of the top ten Canadian short films of 2009 by the Toronto International Film Festival. It was also nominated at the Brooklyn International Film Festival. Her film Sophie Lavoie won the best short-film award at the Festival du nouveau cinéma.
First Feature Films
Anne Émond's first full-length movie was Nuit #1. This film helped show her unique style. She often uses long scenes and speeches in her movies. Her films often explore feelings of being alone when you are young. For Nuit #1, Émond won the Claude Jutra Award in 2012. This award is for the best first feature film by a new director.
Her second feature film was Our Loved Ones (Les êtres chers). It was first shown at the Locarno Film Festival in August 2015. It received many good reviews. The story starts in 1978 in a small village. It follows the Leblanc family after a sad event. In December 2015, Our Loved Ones was chosen as one of Canada's Top Ten films of the year.
In 2016, Anne Émond received the Stella Artois Jay Scott Prize. This award is given to new artists by the Toronto Film Critics Association. Our Loved Ones also received seven nominations at the 18th Quebec Cinema Awards. These nominations included Best Film and Best Direction.
Her third film, Nelly, was released in 2016. This movie is based on the real life of a Canadian writer named Nelly Arcan.
In 2017, Anne Émond helped organize the Festival Vues dans la tête de... film festival. This event took place in Rivière-du-Loup.
