Anne Kiguta's Early Life and School

Anne Kiguta was born in Nairobi, Kenya. Her parents were very involved in their church and helping others. She is the youngest of four daughters. Her mom even ran a special program that visited sick people in hospitals to give them food.

From a young age, Anne loved helping people. She hoped to study law after finishing high school.

Anne went to St. Christopher's Prep School. Then, she attended Rusinga High School in Nairobi from Year 8 to Year 13. She later went to Daystar University to study Public Relations and Mass Media, finishing in 2008.

Anne Kiguta's Media Career

When Anne turned 18, her local church started a radio station. The manager encouraged her to try out for a job. Anne got the job, which changed her plans from studying law. This is how her love for the Kenyan media industry began!

At Hope FM, she worked as a show host and producer. She helped create and present shows like "Plug In" and "The Top 40 Countdown." During school holidays, she worked as an intern in Hope FM's newsroom. She covered local crime stories, and that's when she really found her passion for journalism. Anne started reading the news during the morning and mid-morning shows. She also hosted fun entertainment shows on Fridays and Saturdays. She worked at Hope FM radio from 2003 to 2006.

Later, Anne moved to Capital FM. There, she worked as a Senior Anchor and reporter. This was before she got her big chance in television. In October 2013, Anne joined Royal Media Services. She became the Group Digital Manager and a Senior Anchor.

Today, Anne owns her own media company called AK Consulting. Through her company, she produces and hosts a Sunday night news show called "Punchline" for K24 TV. This show talks about important political and economic issues in Kenya and Africa. She interviews many important people, like Kenya's Deputy President, UN leaders, and government officials.

Her Journey in Television

Anne is especially good at reporting on politics and current events, with a special interest in African topics. She has interviewed many important leaders from around the world. These include President Uhuru Kenyatta, the late UN Secretary General Kofi Annan, and famous economics Professor Jeffrey Sachs. She has also led many international discussions for groups like UN Habitat and UN Women.

Anne hosted the Sunday night shows for KTN for three years. By 2012, Citizen TV wanted to make its political news stronger for the 2013 General Election. At that time, Anne was the only woman doing tough political interviews. She sometimes received criticism for asking hard questions.

Katua Nzile, who was the managing editor at KTN, offered her a job as a news anchor. She co-hosted interviews during prime time with other anchors. Then, she started anchoring the news on Sunday nights for a show called "Checkpoint." This show competed with "Sunday Live," a similar program on Citizen TV. "Checkpoint" became very popular. This led Wachira Waruru, the Managing Director of Citizen TV, to ask her to join their station. Anne joined Citizen TV and later took over shows like "Monday Special" and "Sunday Live."

She left Citizen TV in 2019 and took a break for one year. Then, she returned to TV with her new political show, "Punchline," which airs on Sundays on K24 TV.
