Early Life and First Steps in Politics
Anne Frances Turner was born in Sussex, England, on November 3, 1955. Her parents were Patrick and Nesta Turner. She went to Haywards Heath Grammar School in West Sussex.
Anne trained to be a nurse at St Bartholomew's Hospital in London. She also earned a special diploma in district nursing. For 25 years, Milton worked for the NHS. The NHS is the public healthcare system in the UK. She worked in different areas, including helping people with serious illnesses. In the 1980s, she was a "shop steward." This means she was a representative for other nurses in their union.
Milton started her political career as a local councillor. She was a councillor for the Borough of Reigate and Banstead from 1999 to 2004. A councillor helps make decisions for a local area. She also led the Conservative group on the council for three years.
Becoming a Member of Parliament
In 2005, Anne Milton was chosen to run for MP in the Guildford area. The Conservative Party had lost this seat in the previous election. It was a very close race.

In 2013, there was a vote in Parliament about legalizing same-sex marriage. Anne Milton did not vote either way. She said she did this because her local community had different opinions.
In 2015, she became a member of the Privy Council of the United Kingdom. This is a group of important advisors to the King or Queen. This gave her the special title "The Right Honourable." In 2016, she voted for the UK to stay in the European Union (EU).
