Muhlenbergia minutissima is a type of grass often called annual muhly. This small grass grows naturally in North America. It is known for its tiny flowers and delicate appearance.
Where It Grows
This grass is found across the western United States and a large part of Mexico. You can spot it in many different places. This includes areas that have been changed by people or animals, like roadsides or fields.
What It Looks Like
Muhlenbergia minutissima is an annual bunchgrass. This means it lives for only one growing season and grows in clumps. It can reach about 30 centimeters (about 12 inches) tall. Its flowers grow in an open, spreading cluster called an inflorescence. These clusters have very thin branches. Each branch holds tiny flower parts called spikelets, which are only about a millimeter long.
