The Fire That Destroyed the Church
Sadly, on the night before Tuesday, August 3, 2021, a terrible fire completely destroyed Ansgar's Church. This was a very sad event for everyone who loved the building and its community. The fire caused a lot of damage, and the church could not be saved.
Investigating the Fire's Cause
After the fire, police investigated to find out what happened. A police report published on August 12, 2021, suggested the fire was caused by a lightning strike. However, some people questioned this idea. They pointed out that the SMHI (Sweden's weather service) did not record any thunder at that time. Also, some witnesses reported hearing firework explosions. This means the exact cause of the fire is still debated.
