Antabamba is a town located in southern Peru. Its name comes from the Quechua language. Anta means "copper" and pampa means "plain," so Antabamba means "copper plain."
This town is the capital of the Antabamba Province, which is part of the Apurímac Region. It is known as the birthplace of Juan de Espinosa Medrano, a famous writer from the 16th century. He was also known as "El Lunarejo."
