Anthony Maurice Hemingway (born in 1977) is an American director who works on movies and television shows. He is known for directing many episodes of popular TV series. Some of these include CSI: NY, Treme, and Glee. He also directed the feature film Red Tails (2012).
Before he became a director, Hemingway worked as an assistant director. This role is very important on a film or TV set. An assistant director helps the main director keep everything organized and on schedule.
Career Journey
Anthony Hemingway started his career in the television industry. He worked as an assistant director on the HBO show Oz. This experience helped him learn how TV shows are made.
He later became the first assistant director for the movie Freedomland in 2006. He also worked with the famous actor Samuel L. Jackson on the 2002 movie Changing Lanes.
Getting a Big Break
A major step in Hemingway's career was working on the TV drama The Wire. He started as a first assistant director for many episodes. The creators of the show saw his talent and hard work.
