About the Snail
This sea snail is quite small. Its shell can grow up to 11 millimeters (about 0.4 inches) long. The shell is also about 4 millimeters wide.
Shell Description
The shell of Antiguraleus aeneus is solid and has a shape like a cylinder that narrows at one end. It looks shiny and smooth. The shell is usually an amber-brown color, sometimes with hints of yellow-orange.
It has raised lines, called ribs, on its surface. These ribs are slightly curved and stack on top of each other. There are usually about seven ribs on each turn of the shell. On the lower part of the shell, near the opening, there are also six thin lines that go around the shell.
The opening of the shell is quite wide. The outer edge of the opening is thin. Inside, there's a short and wide tube called the siphonal canal.
Where It Lives
This sea snail is found only in Australia. It lives in the marine waters off the coast of Queensland.
