Antonella Lualdi (born Antonietta de Pascale, 6 July 1931 – 10 August 2023) was a famous Italian actress and singer. She starred in many Italian and French movies during the 1950s and 1960s. One of her notable roles was in the 1954 film The Red and the Black, where she acted alongside Gérard Philipe.
Antonella Lualdi's Life and Career
Antonella Lualdi started her acting journey in 1949. She won a contest held by a movie magazine called Hollywood. In the contest, she was known as "Miss X," and readers got to choose her stage name.
In 1955, she married Italian actor Franco Interlenghi. They had worked together in several films. Antonella and Franco had two daughters, Stella and Antonellina. Antonellina also became an actress, just like her mom.
Later in her career, in 1974, Antonella Lualdi started singing in France. She became quite successful and received good reviews for her music. She also began acting on stage in a play called Le Moulin de la Galette. She toured with this play in many countries across Europe.
Antonella Lualdi passed away on 10 August 2023, when she was 92 years old.
Awards and Recognition
Antonella Lualdi received the Premio Cinema italiano Anni d'oro award in 2020. This award honored her role in the 1959 movie "La notte Brava" (also known as Bad Girls Don't Cry). The film was directed by Mauro Bolognini.
