Becoming a Musician
Antonietta Gambara Untersteiner studied music at the famous Milan Conservatory. She attended from 1874 to 1876 and graduated with a special prize. The director of the Milan Conservatory at the time was Antonio Bazzini. He wasn't sure about letting female students into the school. However, in a letter to Giuseppe Martucci, another conservatory director, Bazzini said that Antonietta was the only student worthy of being accepted in 1874. This shows how talented she was!
