Antonio Juan García-Santesmases Martín-Tesorero (born in 1954) is a Spanish political philosopher and politician. He has worked as a university professor and served in the Spanish Parliament.
Early Life and Education
Antonio Juan García-Santesmases Martín-Tesorero was born in 1954 in Madrid, Spain. He came from a family that was doing well. For his early education, he attended the Colegio de Nuestra Señora del Recuerdo.
In 1975, he finished his university studies in Philosophy and Arts. After that, he started working as a high school teacher in 1979. While teaching, he also worked on his advanced degree, called a PhD.
His PhD and Early Career
His PhD paper was titled Marxism and State. He finished and presented this important work in 1983.
Antonio García-Santesmases was also active in politics. He joined a group within the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE) called Izquierda Socialista. He was an important member of the PSOE's Federal Committee from 1984 to 1997.
Political Career
In 1996, Antonio García-Santesmases ran for election in Madrid. He was on the PSOE list for the general election that year. He was elected as a legislator, which means he became a member of parliament.
He served in the Congress of Deputies, which is like the lower house of the Spanish Parliament. His time in office was from March 26, 1996, to January 18, 2000.
Academic Life
After his time in parliament, Antonio García-Santesmases became a professor. He teaches Political philosophy at the National University of Distance Education (UNED). This university is known for its distance learning programs.
