Antonio started learning to paint in the city of Murcia. His first teacher was a painter named Senén Vila. Later, Antonio moved to Madrid, the capital city of Spain. There, he continued his art studies with another important painter, Miguel Jacinto Meléndez.
Becoming a Popular Painter
Antonio Richarte became very well-known in the city of Valencia. Many people and groups in Valencia hired him for his art. He was especially busy painting large, colorful banners. These banners were used in special parades and celebrations by different "guilds" in the city.
