Apple Hill Center for Chamber Music facts for kids
The Apple Hill Center for Chamber Music is a special place for playing and learning chamber music. It was started in 1971. You can find it on 100 acres (40 ha) of fields and woods in Nelson, New Hampshire, in the United States.
History of Apple Hill
The Apple Hill Center for Chamber Music began in 1971. In 2007, the Apple Hill String Quartet was formed. This group plays both classic and new music.
In 2015, Apple Hill won a special award called the "CMAcclaim Award." This award came from Chamber Music America. It recognized Apple Hill's important work in music.
What Happens at Apple Hill?
The center is led by its executive director, Javier Caballero. The Apple Hill String Quartet is also a big part of the center. They are the "ensemble-in-residence."
These skilled musicians perform concerts all over the world. They also lead music workshops. Every summer, they teach chamber music to students of all ages. This happens at Apple Hill's Chamber Music Workshop.
Each summer, about 300 students come to the Workshop program. Around 45 teachers also join them. Since the early 1970s, more than 12,000 students have learned music here.
