History of Aquilla
Early Days and Naming
Aquilla got its own post office way back in 1892. A post office is where mail is sent and received. This post office served the community until 1908. People have different ideas about how Aquilla got its name. Some believe the name comes from the Latin word for "eagle." Others think it was named after a person called Aquila, who is mentioned in the Bible.
Growth and Recent Changes
In 1925, Aquilla was home to about 45 people. The community has seen some new developments more recently. In 2017, a man-made lake was built near an area called Bo Geary Circle. Around the same time, a local farmer's market called Shady Oak's opened in the area.
