History of Aquilla

Early Days and Naming

Aquilla got its own post office way back in 1892. A post office is where mail is sent and received. This post office served the community until 1908. People have different ideas about how Aquilla got its name. Some believe the name comes from the Latin word for "eagle." Others think it was named after a person called Aquila, who is mentioned in the Bible.
