The Grande and Chocó rivers flow through the area too.
The people of Aragon love to celebrate! They have several fun festivals throughout the year. History and Geography of Aragon
Aragon was one of the first places in Santa Rosa de Osos where people settled. This happened way back in the 1700s. In the past, the area was called Tierradentro. People found a lot of gold here. Because of the gold, a chapel was built. This chapel was later replaced by the big church you see today. This is how Aragon became a well-known town.
Aragon officially became a township on July 12, 1912. This was decided by the Santa Rosa de Osos Municipal Council.
Rivers and Mountains
Aragon has important rivers. The Rio Grande flows from north to south through the town. It starts in the San Bernardo area. This river is so important that the town holds the "Fiestas Del Río" (River Festivals). This event brings together both locals and visitors. Many smaller streams flow into the Rio Grande. These include the Quebrada Del Medio, the Chocó river, and the San Andrés river. The San Andrés river flows into the Cauca River near the El Valle district.
You can also find two high points in Aragon: San Bernardo and Santa Isabel. San Bernardo is the highest peak in all of Santa Rosa de Osos.
