The Archaeological Museum of Gandia, also known as Maga, is a special place in Gandia, Spain. It shows off amazing old objects found in the La Safor and Gandia areas. The museum is especially famous for the items found in the Parpalló cave.
The museum officially opened in 1972. It is located in an old building called the Sant Marc Hospital. This building is on the edge of Gandia's old medieval walls, next to the Serpis river.
What You Can See at Maga
The museum was closed for a while, from 1987 to 2003. During this time, experts worked hard to study, document, and fix the museum's collections.
A Journey Through Time
Today, the museum has a permanent exhibition. This show takes you on a journey through the region's prehistory. You can see how people lived from the very first inhabitants in the Paleolithic period. This was a time when early humans used stone tools. The exhibition continues all the way to the Iron Age. In the Iron Age, people started using iron to make tools and weapons.
Famous Discoveries
The Maga museum is home to important items from some of Europe's main archaeological sites. These include objects from the Cueva de Bolomor, the Parpalló cave, and the Maravillas cave. These sites have given us many clues about ancient life.
