Exploring Historic Buildings
Arden has some interesting old buildings that tell stories about the past.
The Blake House
The Blake House is a special building that was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2010. This means it's recognized as an important historical site. The house is a rare example of the Gothic Revival Style in North Carolina. This style of architecture was popular in the 1800s and often looks like old castles or churches.
Oak Park Historic District
The Oak Park Historic District was created in 1927. A "historic district" is an area with many old buildings that are important to history. Building new homes in this area slowed down because of the "crash of 1929." This was a time when the economy had big problems. Even so, more than 15 homes from that time are still standing today.
