Ardmore, Missouri facts for kids

Ardmore is a small place in Macon County, Missouri, in the United States. It's what we call an "unincorporated community." This means it's a group of homes and businesses that isn't officially a city or town with its own local government. Instead, it's part of the larger county.

Ardmore's History

Ardmore began in the early 1890s. It was first set up as a place for people working in the mines nearby. This is why it was known as a "mining community."

A post office was opened in Ardmore in 1889. This was an important place for people to send and receive mail. The post office stayed open for many years, but it closed down in 1929.

At one point, Ardmore was quite busy. In 1925, about 550 people lived there. Over time, as mining activities changed, the community became smaller.
