He has a daughter named Laura Alejandra. In 1999, Argenis Chávez married Belkis Del Pilar Quintero Infante. Together, they have a son named Argenis De Jesús.
His Political Career
Argenis Chávez Frías started his political journey in his home state. He worked as the secretary for the Barinas state government. This was when his father, Hugo de los Reyes Chávez, was the governor. His father served as governor from 1998 to 2008.
Later, in 2011, Argenis Chávez took on a national role. He was appointed as the Vice Minister of Electrical Development. This position was part of the Ministry of Popular Power for Electric Power. He held this role until 2013.
In 2016, Argenis Chávez became the Governor of Barinas state. He served in this important position until November 2021. As governor, he was responsible for leading the state government. He worked on various projects and policies for the people of Barinas.
International Sanctions
In November 2017, the country of Canada took action against Argenis Chávez. Canada decided to place sanctions on him. Other Venezuelan officials were also included in these sanctions.
These actions were taken under a law called the Justice for Victims of Corrupt Foreign Officials Act. Canada stated that these individuals were believed to be involved in actions that were not right. These actions included serious issues related to human rights and corruption. Sanctions mean that certain financial or travel restrictions are put in place.
