Barinas (Spanish: Estado Barinas) is one of the 23 States of Venezuela. It's located in the western part of the country. The state capital is also called Barinas. This state is famous for its wide-open plains, known as "llanos," and its amazing wildlife. It's a land of cowboys, cattle, and beautiful natural landscapes.

Barinas is in the southwest part of Venezuela. It shares borders with several other states. To the north are Portuguesa and Cojedes. To the east is Guárico. To the south, you'll find Apure. And to the west, it borders Táchira, Mérida, and Trujillo.
