Arianna Savall i Figueras was born in 1972 in Basel, Switzerland. She is a classical singer, a harp player, and a composer. Arianna is known for singing in many languages. These include Catalan, French, English, Spanish, and Portuguese.
Life and Career
Arianna Savall comes from a very musical family. Her father is the famous composer and viol player Jordi Savall. Her mother was the singer Montserrat Figueras, and her brother is Ferran Savall.
Arianna started her music studies early. In 1993, she began learning to sing at the Conservatory of Terrassa. Her teacher was María Dolores Aldea. She also studied the harp there. She finished her harp studies in 1996. Later, in 2000, she earned her degree in singing. In 1992, she also studied with Rolf Lislevand at the Toulouse Conservatory.
In 1996, Arianna went back to Switzerland. She attended a special seminar with Kurt Widmer at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis. For many years, she was a member of Hespèrion XXI. She also performed with her father's music groups. In 2008, she decided to start her own group. She named it Hirundo Maris. She created this group with the Norwegian musician Petter Udland Johansen.
Since 2017, Arianna has been teaching. She teaches the baroque harp at the Zurich University of the Arts.
