Muhammad Arie Irawan Ahmad Fauzi (born August 21, 1990 – died April 7, 2019) was a professional golfer from Malaysia. He played on important golf tours like the Asian Tour, the Asian Development Tour, and the PGA Tour China. He achieved two wins on the Asian Development Tour in early 2015.

Becoming a Golfer

Early Golf Days

Arie Irawan showed his talent early on. In 2008, he won the Malaysian Amateur Stroke Play Championship. This was a big win for him as an amateur player. He also attended the University of Tulsa in the United States from 2008 to 2012, where he continued to play golf. In 2012, he won another amateur event, the Negeri Sembilan Amateur Open.

Turning Professional

Arie Irawan officially became a professional golfer in April 2013. This meant he could now compete for prize money. In 2014, he played on the Asian Development Tour. He did well enough to earn his spot on the 2015 Asian Tour, which is a bigger and more competitive golf tour in Asia.

Big Wins and Challenges

In January 2015, Arie Irawan won his first professional event, the PGM Sime Darby Harvard Championship. This win was part of the Asian Development Tour. It also made him the highest-ranked Malaysian golfer in the world at that time. A few months later, in April 2015, he won his second Asian Development Tour event, the ICTSI Eagle Ridge Invitational in the Philippines. These wins helped him move up in the world golf rankings.

However, Arie faced some challenges. In early 2016, he was in an accident and had to miss a lot of the golf season. He continued to play golf in 2018 and 2019, including on the PGA Tour China. After his successful year in 2015, his best results were tying for fourth place twice in 2018. He also won two tournaments on the local Professional Golf of Malaysia Tour in 2014 and 2017.

His Passing

On April 7, 2019, Arie Irawan passed away in his hotel room in Sanya, China. He was there to play in the Sanya Championship, which was part of the 2019 PGA Tour China season. Early information suggested that his death was due to natural causes.
