Ariguaní River facts for kids

The Ariguaní River (pronounced ah-ree-gwah-NEE) is an important river in northern Colombia. It begins high up in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta mountains, close to the town of Pueblo Bello. The Ariguaní flows from the north towards the south. It eventually joins another river called the Cesar River near the town of El Paso. This river is also special because it acts as a natural border between two areas in Colombia: the Cesar Department and the Magdalena Department.
Where Does the Ariguaní Get Its Water?
A river's "basin" is like its home area. It's all the land where rain and smaller streams collect water that eventually flows into the main river. The Ariguaní River gets its water from several smaller streams and creeks that flow into it. These include:
- Mallorquin stream
- El Jobo
- Las Mulas
- Garrapaso
- Espíritu Santo
- Las Pavas Creek
