Who Was Arise Evans?
Arise Evans was born around 1607 in a place called Llangelynin parish in Wales. When he was young, he started learning to be a tailor in Wrexham.
His Visions and Dreams
While he was still in Wales, Arise Evans began to have visions and dreams that he believed showed him things about the future. These visions became even stronger when he moved to London in 1629.
Meeting Important People
In London, Arise Evans tried to warn King Charles I about dangers he thought were coming. However, the king did not listen to him. He did manage to tell the Earl of Essex, an important leader, that he would get more powerful jobs in the future.
His Religious Beliefs
During King Charles I's time, many new religious groups were forming. Arise Evans was interested in these groups but often disagreed with their ideas. He especially did not like the beliefs of a group called the Fifth Monarchist. He also had strong disagreements with two people named Christopher Feake and William Aspinwall.
Imprisonment
Around 1650, Arise Evans was arrested and sent to Newgate Prison. This happened because he claimed to be like Christ.
