Arly Larivière was born in Cap-Haïtien, Haiti, on August 22, 1972. He is a talented Haitian musician, composer, and keyboardist. Arly is most famous as the main singer and songwriter for the popular Kompa band called Nu-Look.
Arly Larivière's Early Life and Music Beginnings
Arly Larivière was born in Cap-Haïtien, Haiti. He was the second of five children in his family. From a young age, Arly loved music. He started his first band, Kazak Eksperyans D'Haiti, in his hometown.
Later, he left Kazak to create a new band called Feeling. He formed Feeling with friends like Shedly Abraham and Elliot “Prince Elo” Alouidor. In 1992, Arly joined another band, Lakol Mizik Majik. They became a "superband" and released a popular carnival song.
After this, Lakol Mizik Majik went on their first international tour to the United States. Many band members decided to stay in the U.S. to continue their music careers. Arly, also known as Ti Arly, settled in Florida. His father, a famous Haitian composer for Tropicana, was a big influence on him. In Florida, Arly started a music group called D’Zine. This group later became the well-known band Nu-Look.
Arly Larivière's Music Career and Nu-Look
Arly Larivière moved to the U.S. and lived in Florida. In the 1990s, he was part of the band D-zine. He later left D-zine to start something new. In 2000, Arly teamed up with Gazzman "Couleur" Pierre. Together, they formed the Kompa band Nu-Look.
Arly was the Maestro (leader) and main composer for Nu-Look for 14 years. He wrote many popular songs for the band. Some of his famous songs include "Loving You," "Why Do You Say You Love Me," "Notre Histoire," and "A Qui La Faute."
On January 5, 2010, Gazzman left Nu-Look to start his own band called dISIp. After Gazzman left, Edersse "Pipo" Stanis became Nu-Look's new lead singer. However, Pipo later left to join another band called Klass. Arly then tried to find a new lead singer for Nu-Look. In the end, he became the band's only singer.
In November 2013, Nu-Look released a new album called I Got This. Arly Larivière wrote all the songs on this album. In 2013, Arly and Nu-Look also performed at the Haiti Carnival. He has continued to lead the band since 2016.
On February 13, 2022, Arly Larivière and Nu-Look performed at the famous Olympia in Paris. It was a fantastic show. Arly showed off his amazing talent. He impressed the audience with his strong voice and emotional stage presence. The band played a mix of their hit songs and newer music. The crowd loved their energetic performance.
