The Story of Armance
The main characters are Octave de Malivert and Armance Zohiloff. Octave is a smart young man who doesn't talk much. He has just finished his studies at a famous school. He is very drawn to Armance, and she feels the same way about him.
However, their path to love is not easy. Many misunderstandings keep Octave and Armance apart. Octave also struggles with a deep inner sadness. He feels a lot of emotional pain, which was common for young people during that time.
Eventually, Octave and Armance do get married. But then, someone who doesn't like them spreads false rumors. These lies make Octave believe that Armance only married him for selfish reasons.
Feeling heartbroken, Octave decides to leave. He goes to fight in Greece. Sadly, he dies there from his sorrow.
