The Story of Arni's Restaurant
The very first Arni's restaurant opened its doors in 1965. It was located in Lafayette, Indiana. The founder, Arni Cohen, started it. He bought a Pizza King restaurant. Then, he changed it into his own place. He named it after himself!
When it first opened, Arni's could seat 120 people. But it became very popular! So, it grew bigger over time. Now, the main restaurant can seat about 500 people.
How Arni's Grew
Because the first restaurant was so successful, Arni Cohen opened more locations. Some of these new places were smaller. They focused on carryout orders. This made it easy for people to grab their food and go.
In 1988, a second full-service Arni's opened. Today, there are 10 Arni's restaurants owned by the company. There are also eight more locations that are franchises. A franchise means someone else owns and runs the restaurant, but it uses the Arni's name and recipes.
Arni Cohen's Legacy
Arni Cohen was an important person in the restaurant world. He was on the board of the Indiana Restaurant Association. In 2002, he was even added to their Hall of Fame! This is a special honor for people who have done great things in the restaurant business.
Arni Cohen passed away on February 7, 2002. He was 69 years old. His sons, Brad and Kurt Cohen, now lead the company. They continue to run the family business.
In 2017, Arni's Restaurant received another big honor. It was added to the Pizza Hall of Fame! This shows how much people love their pizza.
