Arroyo Seco is a city in Santa Fe, a province in Argentina. About 20,000 people live there, based on the 2010 census. The city's name means "dry stream" in Spanish, just like a nearby creek.

The city is located on the western side of the Paraná River. You can get there by National Route 9 (Argentina), Provincial Route 21, or the Nuevo Central Argentino railway line.

History of Arroyo Seco

How the City Started

Arroyo Seco was founded in 1889 by a person named Liberato Aguirre. He gave some of his land to the government. This was so a train track could be built through the area. The train line was part of the route connecting Buenos Aires and Rosario. Rosario is only about 30 kilometers (19 miles) away.

Changing Names

The town was first called "Pueblo Aguirre." But soon, its name was changed to "Pueblo Arroyo Seco." This new name stuck and is still used today.

Becoming a City

Arroyo Seco officially became a city on April 12, 1962. This was an important step in its growth and development.
