The Art Gallery of Sudbury is a special place in Greater Sudbury, Ontario, Canada, where you can see amazing art.
It opened in 1967. This was part of projects celebrating Canada's 100th birthday. The gallery is in a beautiful old house called Belrock Mansion. This mansion was built around 1900. It belonged to William J. Bell, who was a successful businessman in the lumber industry and also gave money to good causes.
The gallery was first called the Laurentian University Museum and Art Centre, or LUMAC. It changed its name to the Art Gallery of Sudbury in 1997. In October 2023, the building had to close for a short time. This was because of problems with an inside staircase.

Future Plans for the Gallery
A New Home for Art
The Art Gallery of Sudbury has been planning to move to a new, bigger building. This new building would be much larger, about 14,000 square feet. It was planned to be called the Franklin Carmichael Gallery. Franklin Carmichael was a famous Canadian artist.
Combining with the Library
Since 2018, there have been plans for the new art gallery to share a building with the main branch of the Sudbury Public Library. This means people could visit both the art gallery and the library in one trip!
Construction for this new shared space was first planned to start in 2020. It was going to be built where the old Sudbury Arena used to be. However, those plans changed.
Current Location Proposal
As of 2023, the most recent idea is to put the combined gallery and library inside a part of Tom Davies Square. This is a well-known building in Sudbury.
