The Story of Artemis Fowl
The story begins when Artemis kidnaps Holly. He wants to get a lot of gold from the fairies. He succeeds because Holly has used up all her magic.
The fairies then use a special "time stop" around Artemis's large house. This allows them to control time for eight hours. Their goal is to get Holly back.
When talks between Artemis and the fairies fail, the fairies attack. But Artemis and Butler are very clever and strong. They manage to defeat the fairies.
The fairies then send in Mulch Diggums. Mulch finds out how Artemis knows so much about the fairy world. Next, the fairies send a dangerous troll into the house. The troll almost kills Butler and badly hurts Holly. Luckily, Holly gets her magic back just in time. She uses it to heal both herself and Butler.
After the troll attack, the fairies finally agree to give Artemis the gold. They plan to kill him later to get their gold back. However, Artemis finds a way to escape the time stop.
At the end of the book, Artemis gives half of the gold back to the fairies. In return, Holly uses her magic to heal his mother, Angeline, who was very sick.
The book was liked by many people who reviewed it.
