Eoin Colfer (born 14 May 1965) is a famous Irish author. He writes many popular children's books. Before becoming a full-time writer, he worked as a primary school teacher.

Colfer is best known for creating the exciting Artemis Fowl series. In 2008, he was asked to write the sixth book in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series, called And Another Thing .... This book came out in 2009. He also wrote Iron Man: The Gauntlet for Marvel Comics in 2016. From 2014 to 2016, he was Ireland's Children's Laureate, known as Laureate na nÓg.

Eoin Colfer was born in Wexford, Ireland. He studied at Dublin University and earned a degree in Education. After graduating, Colfer worked as a teacher for four years. He taught in countries like Saudi Arabia, Italy, and Tunisia. His travels and his Irish background have inspired many of his early stories.

He became famous around the world in 2001. That's when the first Artemis Fowl book became a New York Times Best Seller. Since then, many of his other books have also become bestsellers. Some of his other popular books include Half Moon Investigations, The Wish List, and The Supernaturalist. He also wrote a series called Eoin Colfer's Legends.

In 2008, Colfer published Airman, which also became a bestseller. More than half of his books have appeared on the New York Times list. His books have won many awards too. These include the British Children’s Book of the Year and The Irish Book Awards Children’s Book of the Year.

Poison Pen

In 2014, a romantic comedy film called Poison Pen was made. This was the first movie script written by Eoin Colfer. The film was shot in Ireland. It was also made in an eco-friendly way, trying to reduce its impact on the environment.

Artemis Fowl

The first Artemis Fowl book was made into a movie by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. The famous director Kenneth Branagh directed it. The movie was first planned for cinemas in 2019, then 2020. But because of the COVID-19 pandemic, it was released on Disney+ in June 2020 instead.

Highfire

Eoin Colfer's novel "Highfire" is being adapted into a TV series. The actor Nicolas Cage is involved in producing the series and will voice a character. It was first planned for Prime Video and later moved to Paramount+.
