Arthur Chambers (born September 18, 1903 – died February 7, 1928) was a talented baseball player from the 1920s. People called him "Rube." He was a pitcher in the Negro leagues, which were important baseball leagues for African American players during a time of segregation.

Arthur Chambers was born in Spartanburg, South Carolina. He also went to college at North Carolina A&T State University.
Starting His Professional Career
Even while he was still in college, Arthur was supposed to play for the Lincoln Giants in 1924. However, he didn't join the team that year. Instead, he made his first appearance in the Negro leagues in 1925. He played for a team called the Wilmington Potomacs.
Joining the Lincoln Giants
In the middle of the 1925 season, the Wilmington Potomacs team stopped playing. Arthur Chambers, along with two other players, shortstop Clarence Lindsay and outfielder Pete Washington, then joined the Lincoln Giants. Arthur continued to play for the Lincoln Giants for two more seasons, through 1927.
A Short Life
Sadly, Arthur Chambers passed away at a young age. He was only 24 years old when he was hit by a train in West Palm Beach, Florida, on February 7, 1928.
