Arthur Farquhar Murray (born 23 July 1880, died 27 July 1930) was a Scottish football player. He played as a centre half, which is a defensive midfield position. Arthur Murray played for Queen's Park in the Scottish League. He was also an important part of the club's management. He served as the club president from 1921 to 1923.
About Arthur Murray
Arthur Murray had a younger brother, Herbert, who also played football. Arthur was a very smart student. He studied Classics (ancient Greek and Roman history and languages) at Aberdeen University. Later, he became a teacher at Allan Glen's School in Glasgow.
In June 1916, during the First World War, Arthur Murray joined the army. He started as a private in the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders. In January 1917, he became an officer, a lieutenant, in the Gordon Highlanders. He was captured by the Germans in March 1918 during a big battle. Luckily, he was released when the war ended. He left the army in January 1919. In 1924, he became the head teacher (called a rector) of Banff Academy.
