The Artisan Center Theater (often called ACT) is a fun community theater. It is located in the Dallas/Fort Worth area of Texas. This theater is special because it has a 195-seat "theater in the round." This means the audience sits all around the stage!
Artisan Center Theater mostly shows musicals. It also has a second stage with 150 seats. This stage is now used for rehearsals and classes. Both children's shows and community plays are performed on the main stage. This stage is now called the "Dee-Ann Blair Stage." It is named after one of the theater's co-founders. The theater is open every day except Sundays and Wednesdays. Artisan produces more than 15 shows each year. These include popular Broadway shows and other plays. Over 100,000 people visit the theater every year.

Discovering Artisan Theater's History
The Artisan Center Theater first opened its doors in March 2003. Their very first show was a comedy called Steel Magnolias. The theater's first home was in the North Hills Mall. This mall was in North Richland Hills, Texas.
In January 2005, the North Hills Mall closed. So, Artisan Center Theater moved to a new spot. They relocated next to the old Belaire Theater. This new home was in the Belaire Shopping Plaza. The theater is now located at 444 E. Pipeline Road in Hurst, Texas. You can find out more by calling (817) 284-1200. Artisan puts on many plays and musicals all year long. For example, they produced twenty-two shows in 2016.

Artisan Center Theater offers several cool programs. These programs help young people learn about theater. They also provide fun shows for families.
Artisan Children's Theater: Shows for Kids, By Kids
Soon after opening, Artisan started a program called Artie's Playhouse. This was an interactive theater for children. Each play used songs, dances, and talking. The shows taught important character values. Children were the performers in these plays.
Now, Artie's Playhouse is called the Artisan Children's Theater. It still features performances by children. They put on multiple shows every week. It's a great way for kids to see other kids perform!
The Artisan Academy: Learn Theater Skills
The Artisan Academy is a series of classes. These classes are for young people aged 3 and up. They help kids learn how to perform in a live theater. The classes follow the local school calendar. Extra workshops are also offered during the summer.
Students can take classes in many areas. These include creative dramatics and acting. They can also learn musical theater, dance, and improvisation. Technical skills for theater are also taught. These classes are available all year round.
