Arturo Ballester Marco (born in 1892, died in 1981) was a talented Spanish artist and illustrator. He became very well known for the amazing posters he created during the Spanish Civil War.

Arturo was born in Valencia, Spain. He loved art from a young age and studied at the School of Arts and Trades in Valencia, which was part of the famous School of San Carlos. This is where he learned many of the skills he would use in his career.

Art During the Spanish Civil War

The Spanish Civil War was a big conflict in Spain that lasted from 1936 to 1939. During this time, many artists used their skills to create posters. These posters were like advertisements, but instead of selling products, they shared important messages. They aimed to inspire people, explain ideas, or encourage support for different groups involved in the war.

Creating Powerful Posters

Arturo Ballester Marco's posters from the Spanish Civil War are some of the most famous and powerful images from that time. He designed many of these posters for a group called the CNT-FAI. This group was a large organization of workers and anarchists who played a big role in the war.

Arturo's posters often used strong images and clear messages to get people's attention. His brother, Vicente Ballester, was also an artist who designed posters during the civil war. Together, they helped create a visual history of this important period in Spain.
