About Arturo Cardelús
Arturo Cardelús was born in Madrid, Spain, on December 27, 1981. In 2019, he became a citizen of the United States. He studied music at several well-known schools. These include the Conservatorio Superior de Música in Spain, the Royal Academy of Music in London, the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Hungary, and Berklee College of Music in the U.S.
His Music for Movies
In 2012, Arturo helped create the music for the film The Paperboy. He was the orchestrator, which means he arranged the music for different instruments. Later, in 2015, he wrote the entire soundtrack for an Italian film called Chiamatemi Francesco.
A few years later, in 2017, Arturo composed the music for a short animated film. It was called In a Heartbeat. This film became very popular online and got a lot of attention. His music for this short film won an award for Best Original Score at the Hollywood Music in Media Awards.
Arturo also wrote music for the 2018 documentary Yo Galgo. A song from this film, "Song for the Untitled," was nominated for an award too.
In 2019, Arturo composed the music for the animated movie Buñuel in the Labyrinth of the Turtles. His music for this film won awards at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival and the Málaga Film Festival. It was also nominated for several other big awards, including a Goya Award.
His Classical Music Works
Arturo Cardelús is also known for his classical music. In 2013, he wrote a piece called Con Aire de Tango. Members of the famous Berlin Philharmonic orchestra asked him to write it. They had seen a video of his work online.
Two years later, a record company called Naxos Records released an album of his classical compositions. In 2016, he became an Associate of the Royal Academy of Music. This is a special honor. His classical piece Grace was nominated for a Hollywood Music in Media Award in 2017. Arturo's music has been played in famous concert halls. These include Madrid's National Auditorium and Boston's Jordan Hall.
