Arvid Håkan Herbert Carlsson Wallman, known by his nickname "Fågeln" (which means "The Bird"), was a talented Swedish diver. He was born on February 3, 1901, and lived until October 25, 1982. Arvid Wallman became famous for winning a gold medal in diving at the 1920 Summer Olympics.

Arvid Wallman was a top athlete in the sport of diving. He represented his home country, Sweden, in two different Olympic Games. His amazing skills in the water made him a true champion.
Gold Medal Glory in 1920
Arvid Wallman competed in the "plain high diving" event at the 1920 Summer Olympics held in Antwerp, Belgium. In this event, divers jump from a high platform. They perform simple, graceful dives without complicated twists or somersaults. The judges score them on their form, entry into the water, and overall elegance.
At the 1920 Olympics, Arvid Wallman showed incredible skill. He performed so well that he earned the gold medal, making him an Olympic champion! This was a huge achievement for him and for Sweden.
Competing Again in 1924
After his big win, Arvid Wallman continued his diving career. He went on to compete in the 1924 Summer Olympics in Paris, France. In this competition, he finished in eighth place. Even though he didn't win another medal, competing in two Olympic Games is a great accomplishment.
Life as an Engineer and Family Legacy
Beyond his diving career, Arvid Wallman was also very smart. He studied at the Chalmers University of Technology. He graduated in 1923 and became a civil engineer. This means he helped design and build things like roads, bridges, and buildings.
Interestingly, the talent for diving ran in his family. His granddaughter, Susanne Wetteskog, also became an Olympic diver. This shows a wonderful family connection to the sport.
