Ashika Pratt is a well-known fashion model from New Zealand. She was born to an Indian-Fijian mother and an English father. Ashika is famous for being featured in the 2010 Kingfisher Calendar. She also appeared on the cover of Indian Vogue magazine in April 2010.
Becoming a Model
Early Steps
When Ashika was 15 years old, a scout for beauty pageants noticed her. She entered the Miss and Mr Howick pageant and finished as the second runner-up. After this experience, she realized that beauty pageants were not quite right for her. However, through the pageant, she met her first modeling agent from Nova Models.
Her very first job as a model was for a TV commercial. It was for Glassons, a clothing store in New Zealand. In the same year, Ashika also walked on a runway for the first time. With Nova Models, she appeared on the covers of Yourself and Her Magazine. She also worked on advertisements for companies like Mitsubishi.
Success in India
Because of her Indian background, Ashika Pratt signed with a modeling agency called Anima Creatives. This helped her career grow a lot. Since then, Ashika has been on the cover of Vogue India and Femina magazines.
She has also been featured in fashion stories for many other magazines. These include Elle, Harpers Bazaar, Marie Claire, Vogue, and Femina. Ashika was also chosen to be part of the famous 2010 Kingfisher Calendar. She has also taken part in the Lakme Fashion Week, which is a big fashion event.
Recognition and Influence
In 2010, Elle Magazine recognized Ashika as one of the top models. Also, Vogue magazine included her in their Fashion Power List for 2010. Vogue described her as a very popular new face in the fashion world. They said she had a great mix of being friendly and captivating.
In 2011, Ashika Pratt was on the cover of Vogue India again, for their April issue. This photo shoot took place in South Africa. It was a special travel issue and was so popular that it quickly sold out.
