Political Journey

In 2019, Ashley Henley tried to get re-elected. However, she lost to Hester Jackson-McCray, a member of the Democratic Party. The election was very close, with Ashley Henley losing by only 14 votes.

After the election, Ashley Henley went to court to challenge the results. She asked for the election to be held again. But the Mississippi House of Representatives did not agree to her request. Instead, they officially seated Hester Jackson-McCray.

After leaving the state house, Ashley Henley continued to work in public policy. She worked for the Mississippi Center for Public Policy. There, she was a legislative fellow, which means she helped with research and ideas for laws.
