Ashlu Falls is a cool and important waterfall located on Ashlu Creek. You can find it about 6 kilometers (almost 4 miles) northwest of Squamish, a town in British Columbia, Canada. These falls are special because they mark the beginning of a deep valley called Ashlu Canyon. What's really interesting is that a bridge for logging trucks actually crosses the creek right between the waterfall's two main drops!
How Tall is Ashlu Falls?
Ashlu Falls is about 33 feet (which is about 10 meters) tall in total. It's not just one big drop, but two separate sections.
The Upper Drop
The first part of the waterfall, called the upper drop, is about 10 feet (3 meters) high. It's quite wide, more than 10 times wider than it is tall! Imagine a wide sheet of water flowing over the rocks.
The Lower Drop
After the upper drop, the creek flows under the logging road bridge. It then makes a turn before dropping again. This second part, the lower drop, is about 20 feet (6 meters) high. The water rushes through a narrow chute into a deep pool below. When there's a lot of water in the creek, the lower drop can become as wide as the upper one, covering a large, sculpted rock area on its north side.
