The Assassination of Harry Barrie was a sad event that happened in Aden on August 29, 1965. It was the targeted killing of Harry Barrie, who was the Head of Police there.
What Happened to Harry Barrie?
On that day, Harry Barrie was driving his car. He was heading towards his office in an area of Aden called the Crater. Suddenly, he was shot multiple times.
The Attack
Mr. Barrie was hit in his chest, hand, and leg. He was quickly taken to the nearest hospital. Sadly, he died from his injuries while on the way.
This event was important because it was the first time a British police officer had been attacked in this way in Aden. Before this, several Arab members of the Aden police force had also been killed or hurt in the eight months leading up to this attack.
Why Did This Happen?
