Athena Cage grew up in Russellville, Kentucky, in the United States. She later went to college at Western Kentucky University.
Helping Her Community
In 2003, Athena started "The Athena Cage Scholarship Fund" at Western Kentucky University. This scholarship helps students pay for college. She raised money for the fund by holding special concerts. In 2004, she even performed with the famous singer Dionne Warwick at one of these concerts.
Special Awards and Honors
Athena Cage has received some important honors. The Governor of Kentucky, Ernie Fletcher, gave her the title of Kentucky Colonel. This is a special award for people who do great things for Kentucky.
In 2004, a street in Russellville, where she lived as a child, was renamed "Athena Cage Way." This was to celebrate her work in the community. It also honored her efforts to help young people and restore the Old Logan Theater.
